Real Patient Stories: Breast Augmentation

I love that the plastic surgery patients I serve here in Scottsdale are so diverse. Having experience with patients of all ages, shapes, and walks of life makes it easier for me to relate to my future patients, ultimately making me a better surgeon. In this blog post, I want to take a look at 2 specific breast augmentation patients who I feel exemplify the diversity I see every day. By comparing these 2 women, I hope to convey the idea that there is no “perfect” breast augmentation patient. The surgery is customizable enough to meet the needs of lots of different people, likely including you.

Patient A

Many times, the women who see me for breast augmentation say they’ve known from a young age that they want to pursue surgery. This is especially true of women in their early 20s, who are eager to start the process. The 22-year-old woman pictured here had always wanted fuller breasts and finally chose me to complete the process. During her consultation, we determined that the best match for her would be anatomically shaped cohesive silicone (“gummy bear”) implants, placed beneath the chest muscle.

In her before-and-after photos, you can see that her augmented breasts complement her shape, bringing her upper body into proportion with her hips.

Patient B

While some women have known they wanted breast augmentation since they were young, others, like this patient, want to replenish their breasts after losing volume. This typically occurs as the result of pregnancy or breastfeeding. This patient, a mother of 2, wanted to bring her breasts back to their “pre-baby” volume and shape. She desired a natural-looking result that didn’t indicate that she’d obviously undergone surgery. In addition to her breast augmentation, I also performed a tummy tuck so her results would enhance her overall shape. Together, we chose liquid silicone implants, placed beneath the chest muscle through an inframammary incision.
